My Dear Coffee Party and other listeners,

Today is the last show of 2011.  I want to share some of what the new Coffee Party Board of Directors is planning and also to get your input as to what you want to accomplish in 2012.

This coming year will be a difficult year economically and politically. It is in these times of severe stress that the worst in human nature comes to the surface, which makes solving problems that much more difficult. The intent of Coffee Party will be to open as many pathways for bi-directional communication with our members with preemptive and “postemptive” actions.

Before the show, I will be participating in my second Occupy event in as many days. We have been changing minds in my very conservative Texas town by using constructive engagement with everyone, irrespective of ideology.  We'll also discuss the excellent blog written by my fellow new member of the Coffee Party Board of Directors, Jeanene Louden.  And, the exciting work of Coffee Party contributor Will Rice, who is putting together a task force to take on Tax Code Reform.

ATTENTION: Politics Done Right will be live from Tranquility Park in Downtown Houston today. We will be broadcasting live from Occupy Houston. If you are in Houston or surrounding counties come and support our martyrs for the middle and working class.

What a week it was. This week gave me hope. This week though gave me pause. I was happy to see the enthusiasm and resolve of the Occupy movement throughout our great nation. I was happy to see that the unions are giving support to the Occupy movement. I was ecstatic when my wonderful Kingwood Area Democrats voted for solidarity with the Occupy movement.

I am however concerned that unless the movement engages politically it will just remain an irrelevant nuisance. In speaking to several Occupy movements in several cities, I think they are starting to realize that. A close relationship they are having with unions is the best first step. Going forward they must be a force to elect real Progressives.

Today’s show will discuss the week’s event. It will also explore where this movement must go next. So come join us!
